The hall was built by Alfred Olson who was a sociable man that purchased two acres inside the town in Bertha, Nebraska which included the grocery store, machine shed and a couple of houses in 1915. Dances that livened up the town were held in the machine shed until Olson built the large dance hall which is known as Bertha Hall in 1920 for about $30,000, and it became the number one gathering place in the community.
